December 2010 Mission – Salvation Army Appeal

Christmas is upon us! A time of giving……. so this month I’m asking you to donate to the Salvation Army Christmas appeal…they work in  many parts of the world, so there will most likely be a branch near all of you.

In England, we are making donations to the Christmas Present Appeal. Members of the public are invited to drop new, unwrapped gifts at their local Salvation Army, or at other drop-off points. A team of volunteers then wrap the gifts and distribute them to referred children and families across the UK through The Salvation Army’s own networks, local groups and social services.
I don’t know if the Christmas appeal will be the same everywhere else in the world….but I am sure there will be something similar to donate to.

Here is the link for the Salvation Army International

Also I am adding the link to the  May Mission – Pay it Forward.  This was for the Tumaini orphanage in Mombasa Kenya, where Joan Smith created a home for children infected with AIDS/HIV

Please give something to Joan and her children…..there is a link on the page where you can donate.Come back and say mission accomplished….  and it would be lovely to hear about your donations.

Somehow, not only for Christmas, But all the long year through, The joy that you give to others, Is the joy that comes back to you.
And the more you spend in blessing, The poor and lonely and sad, The more of your heart’s possessing, Returns to you glad. ~

John Greenleaf Whittier.
